“To Not Fade Away” is a follow up of the Emmy Award winning documentary “Not Fade Away” that followed the story of Marie Vitale, a middle-aged woman stricken with Alzheimer’s disease. In this updated version RLTV revisits Marie and her family five years after the initial diagnosis to see how their lives have changed.
The documentary also looks at Alzheimer’s impact on well-known Americans such as Glen Campbell, Pat Summitt, Maria Shriver and Senator Jay Rockefeller. Either they or their loved ones have been afflicted with the disease.
Equally important, this original program from RLTV shares some of the latest findings in the search for answers. Highlights include the groundbreaking work at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center with Pittsburgh Compound B, which now enables researchers to see Alzheimer’s pathology in the brains of living patients. Also discussed is research underway at the Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute that shows promising results in reversing the effects of the disease.
There is reason for hope, and experts believe there are steps we can take now to prevent the loss of cognitive functioning later in life. Find out what you can do to keep your memory from fading away.
To Not Fade Away is narrated by Lea Thompson, veteran broadcast journalist known for hard-hitting and informative investigative pieces particularly focused on health, consumer, environment, fraud and safety issues.
