Alzheimer's Reading Room
Yesterday I met with Rudy Tanzi and Tim Armour. Today I met with the Founders of the Cure Alzheimer's Fund.
Rudy Tanzi is a top notch neuroscientist and the most knowledgable person in the world on Alzheimer's research.
I know there is a tendency to think or believe that scientists don't know they are doing in the effort to find an effective treatment for Alzheimer's - nothing can be further from the truth. There are a large number of the world's most talented scientists working on potential treatments for Alzheimer's disease.
These are talented men and women that are being constrained by the lack of funding that is currently being invested in Alzheimer's research.
Did you know that 100 percent of every donation given to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund goes into laboratory research? I'll get back to that in a minute.

Tim Armour is the President and CEO of the Cure Alzheimer's Fund. Tim is one great guy. He is full of energy, has a smile on his face, and is working as hard as he can to help the Alzheimer's community.
Tim's work life is all about finding a cure for Alzheimer's, raising money for research, and helping to insure that the funds donated go directly into laboratory research. No middle men, no haircut, 100 percent of every dollar right into the laboratory.
The Founders of the Cure Alzheimer's Fund blew me away. Before I get into it know this, each of the Founders has been touched by Alzheimer's. They are one of us.
Read this carefully please. The Founders of the Cure Alzheimer's Fund have reached into their own pockets for more than $7 million to pay the overhead of the Cure Alzheimer's Fund. $7,000,000. And, they are still reaching into their pockets. They are committed long term.
The fact that the Founders pay the expenses of the fund explains how 100 percent of your donation goes into Alzheimer's research and into the laboratory.
Did you know? There are other places where you can donate to Alzheimer's but only about 18 cents on the dollar goes into laboratory research.

I asked Tim Armour if they would have any problem investing in the "best" science if they received more donations. The answer is NO.
In fact, there are interesting and deserving research projects right now that are stopped or moving slowly due to lack of sufficient funding.
In other words, there could be someone out there right now that could accelerate their research if they received additional funding. They might be the one that finds a treatment - sooner rather than later.
I don't know about you, but I don't want to wait around until 2025 for an effective treatment for Alzheimer's. How about in the next five years. Yes, it could happen, and I not saying that willy nilly. But it might not happen if we don't find a more effective way to get research funds into promising Alzheimer's research.
I believe that the Cure Alzheimer's Fund is the go to place for donations to Alzheimer's research. Just so you know, I reached this conclusion back in 2010 when I first started talking to Rudy, Tim, and others at the Cure Alzheimer's Fund.
Here is some good and startling news. Readers of the Alzheimer's Reading Room are donating to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund, and we are making a difference.
Did I tell you lately that readers and subscribers to the Alzheimer's Reading Room are the best?
You are the best. That is my belief.
Now for the appeal. Either now, or when you can, please consider donating your research monies to the Cure Alzheimer's Fund. Just click the big read button and have at it.
Dotty taught me that Alzheimer's patients are capable of more than we can imagine.
So right now, I am imagining that someday I will come on to this blog and announce that thanks to a critical investment, at the right time, from the Cure Alzheimer's Fund, an effective treatment for Alzheimer's disease was finally discovered.
I will also be pleased to announce that we the people in the grass, the readers of the Alzheimer's Reading, helped to make it happen.
I believe in Rudy Tanzi, I believe in the Cure Alzheimer's Fund, and I believe in us.
