How Long Do You Want to Live?

I'm not in a hurry to get to Heaven, but I want to check it out for sure. By 120, I think I'll be ready to rock my way right into Heaven.

How Long Do You Want to Live
I read this article, How Long Do You Want to Live?, by David Ewing Duncan in the New York Times Sunday Review yesterday.

The options: 80 years, 120 years, 150 years, Forever.

Oddly, I have been telling people for a long time that I expect to live to the ripe old age of 120 years. So, I already knew my answer.

I based my answer on Dotty. Dotty was some kind of freaky machine. She never had a major operation or illness. She went to Heaven on May 25, 2012. She would have been 96 years old in June.

Dotty lived with Alzheimer's or some kind of related dementia for many years. Did the Alzheimer's kill her? I really don't know. What I do know is that Dotty was finally ready to go to Heaven, so she went.

If you want to know how I concluded that Dotty was ready to go to Heaven, and why she went to Heaven, enter the word Heaven into the search box on the right hand side of the page and start reading.

Here is one thing I can tell you. When Alzheimer's struck Dotty, at first she became meaner than a doberman pinscher dog in a junk yard. You know one of those doberman's on a big thick chain that looks like it would bite your head off.

But, not long before Dotty went to Heaven she became sweeter than a really gooey pecan pie.

She looked and acted happier.

So, how long do you want to live?

59 percent of those that answered this question said 80 years. Makes good sense to me based on today's medications and life prolonging tools.

Almost 30 percent said 120 years. I wonder if they would say 120 years if they knew that long before they turned 120 about 99 percent of them would be living with Alzheimer's or a related dementia?

I'm sticking with my 120 years in spite of that revelation by the way.

9.7 percent responded 150 years. I might go for that but only if they take my brain out of my head and put it in a nice 18 year old body somewhere along the way.

I don't want to live forever that is for sure.

I'm not in a hurry to get to Heaven, but I want to check it out for sure. By 120, I think I'll be ready to rock my way right into Heaven.

Now everyone says Dotty and I look like each other. We do.

I'll have to allow for the possibility that somewhere between right now, and 120 years of age, I'll be ready to go to Heaven.

If so, away I'll go.
